Professional Stand Up Paddle Association Flat Water Level 1 Instructor Certification Course
The Flatwater Level 1 Certification Course is designed to build your SUP skills & knowledge, empower you with teaching methods to effectively communicate basic water safety and paddle skills, enable you to lead small groups, and provide you with support and industry price breaks. This class is not for novice paddlers, you must have prior SUP experience before registering for this class.
This class provides a detailed approach to teaching the basics of SUP technique and safe practice without losing site of why we are all here - to have FUN on the water! We use a “hands on – minds on” teaching approach and encourage participation from our candidates by creating a comfortable environment, open to growth and learning.
Be ready to:
- Present mini-lessons on assigned topics.
- Receive feedback on the materials presented.
- Be flexible
- Be prepared – inclement weather does not cancel class. If conditions are consistent with the level of the course being taught or there is a good teaching moment, we go.
Participation in this course does not guarantee certification. Candidates will have to pass a written test upon completion of this course.
Candidates should have a current Professional Stand Up Paddleboard Association membership, First Aid/CPR/AED certification and know basic SUP paddling techniques, and have basic knowledge of SUP gear and safety.
