Badger Tripper Canoe Paddle - Forest Edition

This traditionally shaped ottertail paddle is extremely smooth and quiet for a paddle with such a substantial blade surface. Popular among solo and tandem trippers, as well as day paddlers, the Tripper is a great do-everything paddle for lake country.

Over the years we have made subtle and slight changes to our Tripper until we came to the final shape we use now. This is Badger’s most popular paddle due to its classic traditional look, smooth, quiet fluidity, and a blade size that is preferable to a wide range of paddlers. The blade carries its volume a little higher with a thin tip allowing for a smoother entry in to the water, with plenty of volume once the full blade enters the water in the mid point of your stroke.

Badger’s signature hand shaped transitional ridge (between the shaft and blade) allows for a strong backbone traveling well into the paddle blade. It then gradually tapers into the blade allowing for uniform flex towards the center. The ridge also creates a smooth flow of water around the blade on the surface allowing for a more smooth and fluid stroke.

Available in Cherry and sometimes available in other specialty woods such as Walnut, Ash, Sassafras, Tulipwood…Can be oiled, varnished or given our special combination finish of an oiled shaft and varnished blade, as well as our vibrantly tinted WaterColours™ finish. Personalized laser engraving hand painted designs are also available.

Includes a Badger Paddle Sock for transport and storage.

ABOUT FOREST EDITION CANOE PADDLES by BADGER®

As canoeists, we know and appreciate the need to preserve and protect our wild spaces. So for this, and many other reasons, Badger is excited to be collaborating with One Tree Planted to create a special line of Forest Edition canoe paddles. We began in 2019 by planting 100 trees, linked to a limited run of 10 Special Edition canoe paddles celebrating our 10-year anniversary. We continued the effort in 2022 with our original Forest Edition canoe paddles, planting one tree for every paddle built and sold. Over the next two years, we added another 194 seedlings through our partnership with One Tree Planted.

In 2024, we celebrated 15 years of wilderness adventures with a goal of planting 1,000 trees. Thanks to your support, we surpassed that goal, planting 1,257 trees and contributing to multiple reforestation projects across North America and around the globe.

And so, with the great success of our 2024 anniversary initiative, we’ve decided to carry it forward this season with the goal of planting another 1,000 trees!

Thus, for every Forest Edition canoe paddle built and purchased this season, five trees will be planted.

All Forest Edition canoe paddles feature a unique engraving of an artistic ‘paddle tree,’ custom-matched to the paddle’s blade style and the species of wood it was crafted from—a small reminder of the forest your paddle could help grow.

Please note: the ‘paddle tree’ artwork reflects the hardwood used to build your paddle, not necessarily the species of trees planted on your behalf. Most reforestation efforts will involve coniferous, softwood, or other native species to replenish the forests.

One Tree Planted reforestation projects encompass the globe, including regions in Canada (including British Colombia, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Quebec), the USA, Mexico, Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe.

Seedling purchases and planting efforts are coordinated through One Tree Planted. Visit the One Tree Planted website for their most current planting projects. Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the number of trees planted to date…

Dig this: Every Badger Forest Edition canoe paddle includes a mini Tree Certificate with a handwritten number that coincides with the OneTreePlanted (OTP) certificates (see our: Trees Planted To Date page for full details). This mini format details the official OTP certificate number and where your tree is in the count for that particular tree planting initiative (as shown in the example image below). This way, you can cross reference your certificate number for the sake of interest and transparency!

Did you know? Personalized Forest Edition Paddle Tree Certificates are also available upon request! Just contact us with your certificate number (located on the paddle tag) or proof of purchase, along with the name of the recipient as you would like it to appear on the document as shown here. We will email you a personalized digital copy (PDF) to print out or forward to the recipient as you please!
